It's Moving Day

For those of you who don't know, I have sold my house! Today is moving day. The guys are here right now loading the truck to take all my crap to storage for a few months. Until I am ready to move somewhere else, say Pittsburgh for example. So let me fill you in on what has been happening in my world since the last update. In two words, very little. I have been to Pittsburgh and back to Richmond to get ready for today. I close on the house tomorrow, that is of course if the workmen show up to fix a gutter issue and a few minor inspection items. It is amazing how much crap I have even after giving or throwing away tons of stuff. Word to the wise, if you haven't touched something in the last year and can't think of a time in the next 6 months you will need it, chuck it.

Where do I go from here? I will be in Richmond until the 24th for a wedding. Then I will make my way south to Savannah or north to New Jersey then south to Savannah. This should take me into mid November and back to Richmond for the holidays. Of course all of this could change by tommorow.

Enough for now.

Updates from the field.

It has been awhile since I have posted to the blog so here goes.

So where have I been since leaving Bay Head? I went to Pittsburgh to visit Christy for 5 days over Labor Day. For those of you who have never been to Pittsburgh and have a negative image of the city in your head, how wrong your brain is. It has a great skyline, great views of the city from Mt. Washington. Great museums and lots to do. Take some time and visit, you will have a nice time.
I then headed to Richmond and after 3 months of no one wanting to rent my house, I put it on the market and sold it in 12 days. For those wondering how much it sold for, look in the public records for final price. I close on it the 22nd of October. I also went to the NASCAR race at RIR (Richmond International Raceway), which was a ton of fun. If you have never been to a race, do yourself a favor and find someone who has been to a race and go with them. The tailgating is as good as the race, if you have the right friends and enough food and beer to kill a small village. I then headed back up to Bay Head on the 14th for a weekend with some of my friends. Thanks to Clem, Colleen, Char, Jacob and most of all, Christy for a great weekend. Alex we missed you, but make plans for September 17th '05 and the "Half Way to St. Patricks Day" party next year in Bay Head. My plans from today are somewhat elastic at this point, I will mainly be staying in a 360 mile bubble of Bay Head for the next few weeks. If you need to get me try the Bay Head phone number before my cell. If you need the number send me an e-mail and I will send it to you. Speaking of e-mail, if any of you would like a gmail e-mail account just send me a request to my gmail account. Why should you get a gmail account, you may ask? It's web based so you can get it from any computer with net access. It allows you to store up to 1 gig of space to save every photo or attachment you could ever want. Send and receive attachments up to 10 mb. And what would google mail be without the best way to search for anything in your e-mails, search for peoples names, keywords, attachment only e-mails, I could go on and on. I have 6 invites to give out when they are gone I may get more so first come first serve. This is a beta version and does have a small learning curve but it is worth the time to learn and use it. I love it and would never use another free mail service. Well Monday Night Football is on and I just got my Pizza delivered (Lenny's Pizza, Pt Pleasant, NJ - Great Pie) so until later.

It's starting to get bigger

It's starting to get bigger

Waves are now 5 to 6 feet and we are still an hour away from low tide.

First good swell of the summer.

First good swell of the summer.

This is just the begining of what is shapping up to be the best swell
of the summer in Bay Head, NJ. The effects of tropical storm Gaston
which is sitting of the coast of NJ. This was at high tide, low tide
photos to follow.

Christy and Me in NYC

Christy and Me in NYC

Although I still look like some kind of freak she seems to like me
anyway. This ways taken at Maya, a great Mexican resturant on 65st and
First Ave in NYC, nice place and good food.

The New Car

The New Car

Yes I got a new car!!! This is so much better than the gas sucking
Mercedes SUV. Some think the CRV is a chick car but the person who
keeps telling me this has no problem driving his wifes CRV. So take
that Jason.

More photos later

Web Site update

I am currently working on setting up my web server.
www.followsean.com
So if you try and go there now it may not show up as available or you might see a strange looking home page.

Features I plan on adding to the server include:
A forum board for posting on different topics. i.e. Places I should go, Post Card requests etc.

A chat room for on-line chats with other fans of Sean.

I may change the style and my software version of the Blog for better content.

I will be able to give people email address (both POP and Webmail)
that ends in @followsean.com - Think of the possibilities ;-)
I need a few beta testers send me an email with the subject "Mail Account Request" to sean at followsean.com (replace at with @)

A mailing list for updates for those who would like to find out I have just added a new post.
Available NOW send me an email with the subject "Mailing List Request" to sean at followsean.com (replace at with @)

An easy to navigate photo gallery.

Travel Plan Update

I am trying hard to get things in the house wrapped up and stored. I have turned over the rental process over to a management firm and I hope to have it rented in the next 2 weeks. I plan on having the house ready for some touch up paint work and cleaning on Monday or Tuesday, then I will hit the road the next day.

Sean on TV - tells the world about his trip - UPDATED

Hosed again - not Thursday's show, I hope it's Friday

UPDATE
The show I am on is going to be Thursday (I think, not positive), they where taping two show yesterday and I didn't know that until I started to watch the episode tonight.

For those of you who watch "The Screen Savers" on g4techtv (channel 354 on directv - check local listings). I have a question answered on the show. I was hoping to do a video chat but we could not make it work so I just did the voice call.

For those of you who don't watch the show it comes on every night at 7pm on g4TechTV or just TechTV (new merger). The show I am on will be on Wednesday the 16th at 7pm and replayed Thursday at 12 noon. My segment comes on 20 min. into the show for those who don't want to watch the whole thing.

Hello and welcome to all who replied to my e-mail

Thanks again for taking an interest in my trip.

Also I have updated my signature.

"Life is what happens when you quit your job." Sean Allocca
amendment submitted by Frank Allocca
"And your dad still works!!!"

I have checked this one for spelling and grammtical errors, thanks to those who noticed.

I have also started to formulate an basic trip outline that I will post in the next few days.
It will mainly cover places and things I plan on seeing and the most likely time of year. I will also have the comments stuff sorted out so everyone can comment on the plan and to make other suggestions.

I am also checking into the whole picture phone posting issue, I plan on taking care of this before I start but the magic 8 ball says "ask again later".

I am also setting up a complete website for my photos I take on the road. The blog may move to this new site so check back often.

Every great journey begins with a single step...

or in my case with a full tank of gas.

Q: So what am I doing?
A: Spending at least the next year driving all over the US and Canada with the chance of going to New Zealand.

Q: Why am I doing this?
A: The quick answer is why not, but the real reasons are; I have the time, money and desire to do this. Well the money thing will sort it self out. So two out of three are good enough reasons for me.

Q: When do I start?
A: My official launch date is July 1, but it may happen before that.

Q: Where do I plan to go?
A: The first stop is New Haven, VT after that, well, I just don't know. That is to far ahead to plan. I find planning for the future is to hard, I let the past take care of things for me. Most people don't live in the present so I don't think they notice.

Q: What will I be driving?
A: That is a question I am unable to answer, if you are patient we will both find out together.

Q: Who do I plan on seeing?
A: Friends and family who are willing to put up with me and willing to put me up for a day or until they kick me out.

Q: Are there specific places I plan on visiting?
A: Yes and I will get into that later.

Q: Will I let people post comments and questions?
A: Yes, but not at first. I need to get the hang of the whole blog thing first.

more to come,
sean
